The tin can is a comfortable package format for most pet food manufacturers.  The product and process are proven.  The can is not going anywhere, but the marketplace is shifting and a balance between different package formats is recommended to reach new consumers.  For manufacturers contemplating shifting to cups or pouches, there are operational challenges on the horizon and applying a Total Cost of Ownership perspective throughout the process can be the difference between a successful implementation and a constant battle.
